We're in the process of moving premesis and we want to keep our number so existing customers can still contact us.
We officially leave the old premesis on the 3rd of march, we've signed up to VOIP broadband and are having a line put in at the new premesis on the 6th of March.
There is another business taking over the old premesis immedietly after we move, we're concerned that the new occupents will try to take the telephone number.
Can anyone advise as to whether it's possibe for them to do and any measures we have to stop it happening, I would have thought that because there is already an order which concerns the number it wouldn't be possible but all the advisors we've spoken to on the phone don't seem to be able to give any reassurance.
Thanks in advance 🙂
Nobody can take your numbers if they are active and in your name.
Moving to other exchange, there are now a few options available:
CNI (Caller number Intercept) - This is an announcement in BBT exchange advising caller of your new number. Fixed quarterly fees.
RCF (Remote call forwarding) - This seamlessely forwards all calls to your new number without caller knowing. You will still be charged a line rental+RCF charges+call charges (from your old number to new number).
BT VoIP - You can have BT VoIP on your business broadband and get the number ported on broadband and get all calls forwarded to your new number.
I dont know the size of your business but if you are a big business, you can go for Lease line with SIP in which case BT can port all your existing numbers on SiP and you can take your numbers wherever you go!
Hope this helps
