Cannot downllad files of my Megashares.com account without the modem resetting.

Hi,

I am a member of Megashares.com and pay every quarterly for an account. Ive never had any problems until I rigged the new 2wire 2701hgv modem up, evertime I go to click on the green download link in megashares.com lsit the download will not show up and the internet cuts off this happens every time so it must be something wrong with the ISP, well they told me its nothing wrong with there site and toold me to contact my ISP about this problem as soon as possible. Can you please assist me as I am paying a fee to use this site for files.

P.S. My speeds have also gone up 896kbps downstream and 448 upstream since I installed the new modem which I am pleased about but now this new problem has arisen

Hi reece71079, it sounds to me like it could be a firewall issue. The 2701 is a secure router with built in attack detection. This may be triggered by accessing certain websites or content. Try disabling the router firewall to see if this resolves the problem.

If this resolved your problem then you may need to create certain firewall rules to allow traffic from the video site into your local network.

Thanks for getting back to me.

Im not to sure on the firewall thing on the BT home hub page, I am sorry but how do i turn the firewall of completely also I thought I would tell you Im using a netgear extender WN 2000 RPT cause its a long way to the office from the modem, Im not sure whether that is causing the problem. This problem only started a couple of weeks ago, when it was all set up with the 2701 and extender, downloaded files perfect, no problems but now I cannot at all and megashares are saying it is to do with your ISP and not them.

Quite frustrating when your paying a regular fee to them.

Any help would be appreciated.

Mal,

Ive turned all the firewalls off I think to all devices but every time I click on a download link in megashares it just resets. I can download a small file example 1.55gb but anything bigger it resets. Cannot work it out.

Got any ideas, could it be a faulty modem.

Hi reece71079, do you have the same thing happen on other sites or just this one? also if you could connect directly to the router using an ethernet cable do you still have the same problem?

Hi Mal,

I've tried ethernet cable direct to the modem and yes it still resets. I do not have a problem with other sites that I have treid but its finding a site that has as big files as my megashare account to try out.

Ive tested the site with a different modem, the old 2700 modem and it works fine so this new 2701 must be a faulty modem. What can I do to get a new one sent out. Ive only just set up for a new 2 year contract with the 2701 sent out. I need a new one sending out to me.

Can you get in touch with BT and get one sent out to me.
