Connection drop-outs requiring manual power-cycle

Hello -

We have a BT business broadband ADSL connection, using a BT700HGV modem in bridge mode.

Over the last ~1 month it has been dropping offline ~once per week. This would not be a problem if it recovered of its own accord...but it doesn't, without a manual power cycle. This means if the connection drops while I am out o the immediate vicinity of the modem, it can stay down for ages.

Since we host webservers behind this modem and it is not always attended this is a big problem for us. Our other line (using EasyNet) has been up for as long as I can remember without needing a manual power cycle.

I have made a temporary fix by setting a script that triggers a relay to reset the modem when the connection goes down, but this is a bit of a hack. Has anyone experienced any stability problems with this modem?

BT phone support are always very polite, but are unable to offer any advice above "well, it's working ok now according to my computer"

Last time I phoned the business line was playing a recorded message asking people to reset their modems in the event of a connection dropping out, but to be honest for a business product to be suggesting that, when the modem firmware should be able to cope without such intervention, seems quite bad form...
