Can someone please explain in simple terms what Business Email Lite is and what you get as part of that package.
THe only page I can see on the support pages says Office 365 looks like this and lite looks like that.
I think I understand that The Office 365 for small business seems to be a fully web enabled cloud based system. Which needs connected to the internet all the time to opertate.
I don't think I want or need that, but cannot locate a lit of facilities offered by "lite" to decide if it is too basic. For example does "lite" allow me to set out of office? or is it just a call up and download "pop" system?
Cheers
Don't wait - just get shot of the awful service.
Less for more - as per my earlier posts. It's just BT trying to squeeze more profit. Nothing to do with Customer Service (though Abominable Service would be a more accurate description) and improving systems. It's all about the cash.
And when you finally figure out that the best thing to do is move your services off BT and that other useless bunch at M$, note that when you change your DNS settings for your domain, you will also need to WRITE to BT to get the rDNS settings changed. Yup. Absolutely pathetic. No one else does that. Just this bunch of......
So all I need to do now is move the entire DNS management to another provider and then cancel the business pack that they supply and go back to them providing little more than a connection. The savings will pay for the VPS I have to replace all their mess, and it is far more powerful.
Enjoy life on the other side. I am.
No worries 🙂
They understand what they are doing in terms of making cash, but they just don't get what their customers feel about it. I bet they have lost truckloads of accounts and money over this.
It's purely a cash making exercise. They have always seen businesses as an area to milk and have done everything they can to do so.
All the flannel about how fantastic the new systems are is just that - flannel.
They have tried to sell you the Emperors new clothes, and actually think people wil believe them. I am sure many do unfortunately, and they can milk them for all they want. Consider yourself enlightened 🙂
A good example is when they first did accounts for business - they hated the fact that they knew there were truckloads of businesses with lots of users all nat'd behind a router. You were expressly not allowed to run a server, and they put lots of blocks in place to try and stop you doing it. And they hated the fact that we could get round it. Ha. Schmucks.
They eventaullu gave in. But then they make sure that the IP address they give you with your 'business account' is actually registered in a 'residential' block so if you do run your own server and don't want to use their SMTP smarthost, a lot of mail gets bounced by other servers who do a look up and ban you on that basis.
So hence all the hassle with individuals having to now SMTP authenticate with their own individual account details - you can't run a mail server like that. Puts a stop to all your naughty people running your own servers and avoiding their smarthost (which they probably hate as they can't scan all your mail if you send direct........)
When I accidentally hacked some of their servers by using my linux box (ha !) to ftp some files to my website cos their Windows uploader they had was so slow, I accidentally discovered a major flaw in their software (and they subsequently found several more on the back of it)
I discussed how I did it with one of their senior techs, and he said he was happy to ignore the fact I was running a linux box as I had been honest with them, though why I bothered, god knows.
Should have just posted on The Register and made them look like the incompetents they really are.
My advice is to take every service they provide away and host it elsewhere. I leave my line with them as I have no real choice, and if there is a problem they can't argue that is is a problem with my ISP etc etc.
Then they can't scan any of your stuff, and can't force you to pay more and more for less and less. And you also get out from under M$ who are as bad as BT IMHO
Rant over 🙂
Can a BT Business Lite be migrated to a Microsoft 365? We have 15 users on BT Business lite and need to tranfer the email to Microsoft 365 email. We do not want to upgrade to the BT Business Pro option. Is there anyway this can be done with minimum down time?
