Does BT support QoS?

I am thinking of using Broadband talk but I am concerned about voice quality when the link gets busy. What happens if the network links between my broadband router and the BT Voice servers get congested? Is there QoS in the network to prioritize the voice traffic?

Hi Bo,

Broadband Talk is the residential VoIP service and is supported by the Hubbub community

Broadband Voice is the business VoIP service.

Broadband Voice does currently support QoS. This is found in the Business Hub (2700v) and BT Falcon phone, which both locally prioritise voice traffic. Once the data packets are in the internet cloud however, it is no longer possible for us to prioritise the traffic. That said, we use industry standard methods for measuring the Quality of Service.

If you are using your Broadband connection for downloading large files or for hosting, we recommend having a separate Broadband line specifically for voice.
