Domain FTP Problem

alexlush

OK, heres the situation.

I have a domain registered with BT which is currently pointing to an external hosting server (outside of BT) using a DNS A record.

I have registered a new hosting package with BT and activated it for the above domain name.

In order to keep the website live on the old hosting server I have had the DNS zone records set back to the external server address.

I now want to be able to upload the site content to the new BT hosting account and check the site is working OK before finally changing the DNS records to point to the BT hosting site. The old hosting package can then be cancelled.

So the question at the moment is: How do I upload onto the new hosting package when the domain isn't currently pointing to it? Which FTP address do I use, and how do I go about previewing my site before finally switching over the zone records?

Thanks in Advance.

Alex

You can upload it to 209.235.144.9 and the username will be your domain name.

You can preview the site at http://c31.sitepreviewer.com/yourdomain.com (substitute the end of this for your own domain).

It does not look like deepahosting.com is hosted with BT. You can more than likely use a similar process as described above (connect to ftp with the ip address and have an ftp account that connects to public) but that would be something you would want to discuss with your current host.
