Easy Site Wizard: site isn't full screen, page size too small

Hi

I've just been tinkering with easysitewizard pro to set up my new site and overall I think it is pretty good, I've more or less got the hang of it and it seems to let me do everything I will need to with quite impressive results.

However, after publishing my web site, the site only uses about two thirds of the available space on the screen, with a nasty grey box around the edge.  Site is www.diydisco.biz

This means the space I do have available for text is restricted and the grey box around the outside of the site is very ugly.

Is there any way of increasing the size of the pages I am using so they cover more of the screen - I appreciate that the appearance is to some extent controlled by screen resolution, but I really hope there is a way of getting around this problem.

If not, am I better off trying frontpage instead? I'm just a little nervous due to the message that it will disable loads of stuff if I activate it!!

Any help most welcome.

Hi,

I had the same concern with a site I designed in ESW.  Unfortunately your ability to edit the template in ESW is somewhat limited.  I ended up editing the source code to get the look and feel I wanted.

If you want to upload your website files using FrontPage, just make sure you do it using FTP in FrontPage and not the FrontPage/Sharepoint extensions.  That way it will not interfere with anything else.

Hi there

I think it's just the template you are using - the extent to which they can be altered varies from template to template. You might be better off trying another that fills more of the page.

Hi ahmurray,

Any site that you create in ESW Pro will have a default fill for the background space.  This is so that if the website is viewed at very high resolution or on widescreen monitors for example there is something in the space.  Otherwise your website would become stretched (like when you don't keep the aspect ratio on photos when you resize them and they become crushed up.  There is an option to center the website in ESW Pro so that the border appears on both sides and looks a bit better.

Agree. If you go into ESW Pro and look at and compare the sites designs, you'll see that this one is designed to not cover the whole page. See if you can find another template that is full page.
