I have an NTSPC Tablet with ICS on it. I had difficulty getting BTCOnnect password on, b ut here is what has worked for me:
incoming - pop3.btconnect. port 110, security NONE.
outgoing - mail.btconnect.com, port 25, security NONE and unticked 'require sign in'.
My thanks to comments here that helped me persevere.

We don't provide support for this device and as yet have no help and Support article for this. You should proceed with a POP3 setup as per your device's instructuctions. The general settings are:
Incoming server: pop3.btconnect.com Outgoing: mail.btconnect.com
E-mail address: your.address@btconnect.com
Username: The first part of your @btconnect.com address (unless the first part is longer than 15 characters, in which case, you will need to include the @btconnect.com part)
Password: the password for your e-mail address.
You may need to use outgoing authentication, the details are the same username and password as for incoming mail.

I have an Acer A500 with exactly the same problem, the settings used on the PC or MASC do not work. Come on BT, there are a lot of these devices about now, so please come up with an answer!

Hi,
Actually @btconnect.com addresses work perfectly well with Android. I had a lot of issues with one of mine at one stage, but it turned out that there was an issue with the actual account itself, and when I had the password reset it worked fine.
Also many people don't consider the fact that they are connecting using their mobile provider's connection, which has a distinct possibility of blocking port 25, which the mail server uses.
Also the OP has not included any relevant details, and not have you. So until then we won't know if either of you are having problems born of the BT systems, or yours.
(And there's always the Helpdesk)
Cheers.

I also have an Acer A500 running Honeycomb. It will not connect to BT Connect even though I am connecting through WiFi not a SIM card. Help needed, please.

Hi,
We'd need more information, including settings (are you using port 110 and 25, for example) and error messages.
Make sure that you edit out any sensitive info though before you post it.
Cheers.

Got my xoom a few days ago.
Setup my btconnect account straight away, and was working perfectly for a few days.
However I accidentally removed the account while upgrading to android 3.1.
Now I cannot add btconnect.
Settings I used previously:
Incoming: pop3.btconnect.com
Outgoing: smtp.btconnect.com
Incoming port: 110
Outgoing port: 25
No sercurity type.
Requierd sign in: check with my username and password.
I was sure that I used port 25 for outgoing previously as btconnect don't except anything else, so I have heard.
But now I get error "Authentication methods are not supported by server"
When I try port 587, which the xoom automatically filled in, I get "Unable to open connection to server".
I have spoken to btconnect, who say they can't provide any support for mobile devices, well im on wifi, I haven't got a 3G version. So in my eyes it shouldn't be much different to a laptop. Could be wrong.
I have got btconnect setup on a defy android 2.2, with no problem.
Other setting I have tried, mail.btconenct.com. however just seem to be going round in circles.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi jallen,
That's odd, but I can tell you that it is definitely port 25.
The error message is familiar, but in different circumstances. It's similar to the error message that can appear when using Outlook 2007 and later, which was caused by some changes Microsoft made with the software in relation to authentication.
But that makes no sense here.
Are you using the default Android email client, or have Samsung put their own on the Xoom?
Cheers.

p.s. As far as supporting devices like tablets is concerned, if only it were that simple. There are dozens of them now, with various versions of operating systems like Android, Windows, etc. It's hard enough for BT (or anyone for that matter) to keep up up with the stuff they do support just now.

Hi Dave,
Thanks for your reply,
Thinking back I do remember that I had to enter my details in a few times when setting it up the first time.
It is almost like you have to do things in a certain order, which I have read on the web someone else thought it might be.
I am using the default email client, I think it is androids own as it is the only one, Doesn't seem Motorola have put one on themselves.
Its good as you can have a widget that puts the indox on the home screens.
Just is annoying as btconnect is my main account, and I got it up, running, sending and receiving within 10min the first time.
I have now tried a full factory restore, to no avail.
Reset btconnect password, no difference.
Thanks
Jack

Dave,
Just to let you know, I managed to bypass my way around the problem by:
Making my phone into 3G hotspot, Connect xoom to phones internet, setup email as normal.
Then go back onto my normal wifi and voilá! Back up and running.
Any theory behind that don't know.
Many thanks for trying to help though.
Jack
