Email Upgrade - what's it all about?

Johnny666666

Hi everyone on the forum, from a newbie!

I have received a number of emails regarding email upgrades but haven't actioned anything because the emails are vague and don't explain exactly what is happening. I haven't clicked on any of the links because I am not aware of the website intc.tractionplatform.com

Am I losing my btclick email address? The email just said I need to upgrade my email but what does this entail and what is changing? I have used this email address for donkeys years and now currently (and only) on Windows Mail. Can I obtain the POP3 and SMTP details etc and enter them manually?

My apologies if this question has been asked many times previously...

Many thanks - Johnny

Hi Johnny,

What is happening is that BT is moving its mail platform to the Microsoft Office 365 one.

Now if you have just a few @btconnect.com email addresses then in theory it should be just about done, and all you'll have to do is go to a different login screen and see a new webmail set up.

If you have more than that then it could get more complicated.  Emails should (again in theory) have been sent out 28 days, 7 days and 24 hours before your migration.  They do things like advise you that you might need to change your password and suchlike (I think).

If you go to this link it'll start you off finding out where you are:

Thanks for that Dave, though I'm still rather confused...

I have logged on to my email account using the web browser as suggested in the linked page and can see that I am not 'Office 365' enabled, and I have checked my licence and it is returned as 'email Lite'.

The thing is though, I have never before seen any of this and only ever access my emails through Windows Mail, formerly Outlook Express, using an email account set up with POP3 and SMTP details. So I still have no idea what is about to happen and whether that will affect me.

I am worried that my email address is going to change or that I can't send or receive any btclick emails through Windows Mail, and neither of these issues have been answered through emails from BT.

Cheers - Johnny

Hi,

Your email address won't change, but your settings will.  There should be links further in from the one I sent you that tell you what you would need to change them to.
