Email account has been disabled?!!

Hello All,

I was wondering if someone from BT could help me with the following problem.  When I click send/receive in any of my email programs a box pops up asking me to enter my username and password for my BT account.  I do as it asks but the box appears straight after asking for the same thing.  If I click cancel I get an error message which I have put at the end of this email.  I have looked up the error codes on Google and they suggest that my password has been corrupted but I can still use it to log onto my BT webmail account.  An even stranger thing that is happening is the messages for my btconnect.com email address are still coming into my inbox on their own and I can still send an email via this account.  I use Windows Live Mail and Outlook Express to access my email as we have two laptops plus a Windows XP desktop PC.  The problem I have described is happening with both of these programs and the error message is also the same.

regards

HI there i can see that you are using the incorrect server.

What you need to do is go to the webmail - if this is blue and white the settings are as follows

Incoming server Server - pop3.btconnect.com

port – 110

SSL- off

ensure that this is authorized with the full email address and password including the domain i.e.@btconnect.com

Outgoing Server - smtp..btconnect.com

port – 25

SSL/TLS -off

make sure the outgoing server requires authentication and authenticate with the same details as the incoming server If this fails take off all authentication

If the webmail is orange and white use

Incoming server Server - pop.outlook.com

port – 995

connection type – ssl

ensure that this is authorised with the full email address and password including the domain i.e.@btconnect.com

Outgoing Server - smtp.outlook.com

port – 587

connection type – tls

make sure the outgoing server requires authentication and authenticate with the same details as the incoming server this will solve the issue

We are currently in the process of moving premises, our phone line is provided by Utility Warehouse and has already been moved to the new premises. Our broadband is provided by BT and we have request it's transfer to the new premises and on the same phone number as previously.

The state of play at the moment is that our old premises, the phone line has gone and BT have switched off the Broadband. Our problem is that we are unable to access our btconnect email addresses that also appear to have been disabled. Is the a way to gain access to our email whilst we await the move of the broadband within the next 5 days or so.

many thanks.

Just to clarify, we are not able to access our btconnect via webmail from anywhere - I did not mean just at the office where the broadband has been ceased!
