Hopefully a bt employee will answer me these question.

I know all the following phone numbers etc to get a mac code. just some questions need to be answered.

1. Do you need an ACTIVE phone line and broadband to get the mac code.

  1.1 If not both, do you need either (phone or broadband line)

by active, i mean does the phone and broadband should be working.

by inactive i mean. The broadband and phone line totally cancelled and not working!

Thanks for your time.

Hi,

Right you can't have active broadband without an active phone line, so that's that really.

Your MAC code only relates to your broadband, so anything you do with that shouldn't affect the phone service.

Word of warning though: If something affects your phone line service and causes it to be cancelled, then your broadband will automatically be cancelled with it.

Hope that helps.

Cheers.

I note that it is a week since you posed your question and have still not had a satisfactory answer.  This seems par for the course for BT as I have been trying for sopme time now, without success, to get this magical MAC code. Perhaps you have to sign the official secrets act first!

@Mikekent

Actually I think you should re-read the original post before saying anything like that.  The OP didn't ask for contact details, he asked about the relationship between broadband and telephony in relation to the MAC code.

If you want a MAC code, and I'm sure that you'd find this from searching the boards or the Help and Support on the Business website, you can call 0800 800 152 and select the cancellation option, or you can go to the following link:

I hope that helps.

Cheers.
