Five tips for novice site builders
1. Colours : Unless you studied art and design then getting some help with what colour combinations work well complimenting each other is a must. This will make your website bright and inviting for visitors. see - http://www.colorcombos.com/
2. Images : Just because a picture looks small on the screen does not mean it actually is. Never shrink a photo using a website builder, resize it properly with a graphics editing package first before using it. Otherwise your website will be slow to load. Take a look at http://www.gimp.org/ (it's fully functioanl, completely free..and almost as good as Photoshop )
3. WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) website builders like the ones offered here at BT will are only capable of so much depite the 'Pro' title. For those that need more features but cannot justify paying somebody to build the site properly or learn how to write code themselves then a free package called 'Wordpress' is the next level up for you. http://wordpress.org/
4. Content : Search engines have no eyes so words are more important than pictures. Where pictures are used remember to add descriptions both in the title tag and the page text if you can.
5. Legal Requirements : For those providing goods or sevices via a website in exchange for money certain information must be able to visitors. Such as the registered place of said business and companies house registration & VAT numbers see - http://www.out-law.com/page-431
