Free Webspace ftp problem

RazziB

Hi everybody

Since saturday 24th April I am no longer able to upload files to my free BT webspace.

I can connect ok to ftphost.btconnect.com with my username and password, that works fine I get the usual "User xxxx logged in." message.

I can use PWD to check my current directory, or cd public to change directory.

But I can not upload or download any files - even a simple directory listing!

If I try to use dir to get a current directory listing it waits for about 3 minutes before giving the following error:

"200 PORT command successful
425 Unable to build data connection: Connection timed out".

Does anyone else have this problem or is it just me? Does anyone have a solution?

I have searched google/bt for any known issues but found nothing.

Thanks

Chris

No idea why you guys are having this problem but I was able to connect in active mode with no issues.

Has there maybe been a Windows security update, or is everyone using the same security software which has updated?

Make sure that your FTP program is set in your Firewall to accept incoming connections and there should be no problems.

I have just run into this problem. It is something new - they changed something.

I have no problems with other FTP sites, just ftphost.btconnect.com

The absolute killer is that on doing a "send" it appeared to accept it and then hung up.

This resulted in a null file being saved on top of the previously OK file on the web site - so now it is utterly broken.

I have been trying to contact BT about this but it seems to be impossible to do this!

It looks like a classic firewall problem somewhere - but I have even turned off the Windows firewall and still it fails. I have tried using a different PC and even a different Internet connection but it's always the same.

It strongly looks like a probem with the BT FTP host.

Hi GMB.

If you are still experiencing this issue you can contact the helpdesk on 0845 600 7020 and follow the options for broadband, they will be able to transfer you to the Web team to resolve the problem

Thanks
