Hi All,
I purchased a domain name and easy site wizard package about 6 months ago, since then I have built my website and worked very hard on the SEO for my website. I never knew that my domain was hosted in Florida because I was originally advised it was in the UK before I bought the package.
I spoke to a specialist one of my SEO team yesterday only to find out my website is actually hosted in Florida (something I had overlooked due to being advised at the beginning that it was in the UK).
I know it doesn't sound that bad but I could not work out why I was receiving 75% - 85% US traffic and not UK traffic from Google. The reason is Google think I am an American website and not in the UK even though I have a UK domain name.

IP Location: Fort Lauderdale, United States
Website Status: active
Server Type: Apache
How many other small businesses in the UK have BT sold their website package to knowing full well that the website is instantly penalised by Google because they think it is an American website. I have just potentially wasted 6 months of SEO because of this very big detail they didnt not tell me about, because if I knew I would of took my business elsewhere and not with a company that wants to save money on servers by going to the US.
I want this looked into and for my website to be hosted in the UK as it was meant to be and I would suggest that anyone reading this take a good look at your stats to see if it is the same case for you.
How can BT of all businesses sell this package knowing what it is doing to the small businesses acros the UK and there chances of actually getting a decent level of traffic from the UK. Not to mention I called BT yesterday (granted it was bad weather) and was messed about for two and a half hours just to find out who I would need to speak to regarding this. By the way I still haven't spoken to anyone because im still waiting for that call back which I never received hence why I am writing this post very angry.
SEO companies across the UK would happily support this information and if you don't believe me find out for yourself and call an SEO company.
