Would appear BT are totally inept, looking for a web hosting service, found the starter package on BT business, online exclusive 2.99 per month for 12 months £5.00 crossed out in red, signed up got the confirmation letter, then got the bill £5.00 per month, phoned up to query, nobody seems to know about the internet offer, have just spen a total of 58 minutes being fobbed off with one call centre after another, each one having to phone someone else to check, if I hear peer gynt one more time I'm gonna kill someone. Still unresolved as the phone line eventually went dead.

See the following document in particular point 6
http://business.bt.com/assets/pdf/Web_Hosting_Reduction_in_Monthly_Charge_TACs.pdf
"The reduced rental charges as detailed in paragraph 5 above will apply throughout the contract period and
will be applied by means of a credit to the customer’s first or second quarterly bill. The credit to be applied
will be the total of the difference between the standard and reduced monthly rental charge for the duration
of the customer’s minimum contract period as follows:
Web Hosting Starter Pack
£24.12"
That piece of information is spectacularly well hidden, there is certainly no mention of it on the advert page http://business.bt.com/domains-and-web-hosting/web-hosting/web-hosting-packages the £2.01 saving is neither here nor there, my gripe was the fact no one at BT was able to give me that info despite 3 very long phone calls which all ended in me being disconnected after about three or four transfers to another department, as a customer support demonstration it was not very reassuring

BT appear to be following the tactics of the "dodgy" players in the market with the devil hidden in the small print.
I regraded my Broadband recently, they offered 10% discount off the monthly charge is i signed a new 12 month contract - seemed like an OK deal and on top was going to given lots of other adds on for free - most of which you had to activate. One in particular was VOIP through the Router. The email arrived with all the details, clicked on the VOIP bit and sure enough it was there £0 per month for 12 months. As i was still waiting for their new router to arrive i didn't action the offer. The router arrived on a Friday, set it up over the weekend. On Monday went to the email again and clicked on the VOIP part and.......£5 per month!!!
Made a couple of calls and found out that the £0/month offer had ended on the Sunday. I was pointed to the small print that that more or less said - BT can change any offer at any time without notice.
Have you picked a good/bad supplier? Not sure if the rest are any better. The one thing with BT is that if you get really hacked off you always email the CEO...usually gets a prompt response from a divisional MD. ![]()
Oh and your website isn't hosted by BT.......it's subcontracted to a company in the USA. The eCommerce web hosting (eShop) is hosted in Germany by a company called ePages - who only sell to large service providers like BT!
The only think from BT is the portal interface which hooks you into these subcontractors, and the monthly billing of course...
