I trying to upload a site I have designed to a friends server via FTP. He previously had an easy site wizard setup which I didnt realise. I think I have made a major mistake. I connected Via cyber duck and decided to delete the contents of the root folder so I could upload my own index file and new site content. Halfway through the deletion of the contents It stopped me and said that I could not delete certain files and folders. namly cgi-binb and other. Now I am left with some files in and some deleted. I tried to upload My own index file despite the contents still in the root but I get a forbidden message. have I majorly messed up. My freind is now without a site and I cant upload my one. please help.
Thanks in advance
Hi
If you can post your friends BT Business Domain name, some of our community could try and look into this. You could also contact the Technical team directly to see if they can assist.

I'm impressed by your thoroughness describing the problem.
For a full solution, tidying up the old site, you probably will need help from the technical support team, as Fiona suggests.
To get something working, even if your FTP client (Cyber Duck) is not connecting as you wish, you can use File Manager within "BT Website Centre" to upload to the BT server.
Log in to your friend's "Manage Services" account at BT, then go to Manage Web Hosting, then take the option to manage his domain. This should find the BT Website Centre. File Manager is an option within Web Site Management. After a bit of figuring out, you will at least be able to upload your own index page.
I still think you will need some help from the Technical Team to get things into their final places. They have helped me out in the past.
Nigel.
