Hosted VoIP (Enhanced) - max simultaneous calls with call forwarding.

I think I have the right answer to this question but hopefully somebody in the know can confirm or deny this.

When using unconditional forwarding on a BT Hosted VoIP (Enhanced) line, because the forward happens within the network, the total number of calls that can be forwarded simultaneously is equal to the total number of lines available on the number that the call is diverted to. i.e if I forward to a number on an ISDN2e installation which has 6 channels, 6 calls could be potentially forwarded at once.

I know this is how Customer Controlled Forwarding and Remote Call Forwarding works, I just need to be clear that this can happen with the Hosted VoIP service.

Good point gs, but that would only work if you had multiple lines with different numbers to forward the calls too. In this scenario, the customer wanted the number to forward to 1 main directory number linked to 15x ISDN30e.

We've worked out that there would be about 10 simultaneous calls at any one time so we have 10 Hosted VoIP lines. We ported the number onto the platform and used it as a MADN. Lines 1-7 are now configured to forward the calls to the ISDN30. The customer only has a maximum of 7 advisors available to take inbound calls at that location so we have forwarded calls on lines 8-10 to another office where there are more staff to take overflow call traffic.

With BT One Plan Plus - these forwarded calls are free and being able to divert to forward to 2 different destination makes this a very clever solution- more intuitive than traditional Remote Call Forwarding.

Ok. I now have the answer so this is for anybody else that is thinking of using this service as an alternative to Remote Call Forwarding (when you can't take your telephone number when moving).

The VoIP number can only forward calls one at a time so you need to work out the max number of simultaneous calls that you would have at any one time and order that number of lines at £5 per line.

The call forwardings can be changed mate.

Not by yourself though.

Call the helpdesk, request that call forwardings is increased. It will have to go to their second line and they should be able to organise for the tweak to be done.

I cannot guarantee they will be able to, but it has been done previously. Its not something that customers can do, as if you stop forwarding or dont have enough availabvle liones to forward to it causes strange issues.
