How can I send & receive SMS from my phone on a PC

tristandavis

Hi there,

I can't believe how hard this is to find...

I want to send and recieve SMS (text messages) using the same number as my BT landline, but on a computer screen.

Much like outlook does for emails, or nokia PC suite does for nokia mobiles, I want the phone connected to the PC, either by a cable or bluetooth (or the interweb tubes). When a sms comes in to the landline I need it to show up on my computer screen. Then I need to reply to it by typing it on the computer and sending it through the landline.

The reason for this is because we are opening a new taxi company, and we want customers to be able to text us for bookings using the same number.

Any ideas?

can I use the landline number that we'll use for calls on BT PC Text? It was my understanding that we'd need to use a new number.

Hi tristiandavis,

I have checked with the sales team and they have advised that you can use your number you have, however you can contact the BT PC Text team on their contact form who can assist with any queries you may have regarding the product.

Hope this helps

I have tried (twice) to get hold of them using the contact form but nobody seems to be getting back to me.

This would be a really useful feature to have in my office if we can use the same number. Is there any chance you could give them a little nudge for me?

Once you have a telephone that supports texts you can just connect it straight to a phone line and send and receive texts. The problem is that you want to connect it to a computer, you have to find a software that support texts message through a landline or pay a programmer to program the software. Hope thus help and please keep me updated
