How to get 800k upstream from ADSL Max??

Hi

I was going to leave BT Broadband for another ISP because I wanted the ADSL Max Premium service that others offer. This gives up to 800k upstream for us poor people who don't live in a town. I live in a outside a town so the best I can get is ADSL Max with no date for anything better.

I rang BT Business technical support and they assure me I am configured for 800k upstream already. However my router does not suggest that is the case. I have a Cisco 887 running the correct firmware and it shows:

#show controller vdsl 0

Firmware    Source        File Name (version)
--------    ------        -------------------
VDSL        user config    flash:vdsl.bin-A2pv6C035d_d23j (10)
Modem FW  Version:    110802_1752-4.02L.03.A2pv6C035d.d23j
Modem PHY Version:    A2pv6C035d.d23j

          DS Channel1      DS Channel0    US Channel1      US Channel0
Speed (kbps):              0            7616             0             448

That is 448k up and not 800k.

Here is my question:

Have I been configured for 800k or not? Should this show something else or have they not configured me correctly a the exchange?

Thanks

Paul

fwiw, I don't think your line has been configured for 800k upstream.

It could be BT tech support think your line is 'provisioned' for 800k upstream as you have requested, but in practise, it looks like it is still configured for standard ADSL1 with standard 448kbps upstream on the line card at the exchange.

If you click on the Further Diagnostics button after the first speed test and enter your phone number, it will reveal the downstream and upstream maximum achievable speeds similar to values reported by your Cisco router.  I doubt changing your cisco router will make any difference.

Hi, thanks for that tip!

I have forgotten all about it. As we all expected it shows it is NOT configured for 800kps, it is on good old 400k. Sigh

Anyone know how to speak to the right person in BT about this? Its going to be hard....

Results:

Download speedachieved during the test was - 6.28 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0.6 Mbps-7.15 Mbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :7.62 Mbps(DOWN-STREAM), 0.45 Mbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 6.5 Mbps

I tried to get BT to do something to keep me, but couldn't succeeed 😞

What are they like at BT!

Phew.

[06:39:12 PM] them: Not at the moment, you are on a Unlimited Max service. So you only get 488kbps on th eupload. You would need to speak to the Sales team to be re-graded to this type of Broadband service, it has the higher upload speeds due to being meant for a larger number of users. Details of the product you require can be found here: http://business.bt.com/broadband-and-internet/broadband-network/

[06:43:18 PM] them: Sales can be contacted on 0800 800 152 Paul, they will be open again tomorrow morning at 8am.
[06:44:18 PM] me: £58 per month is of no interest
[06:44:32 PM] me: your competitors do this for an extra £5 per month
[06:44:51 PM] me: i will leave BT and go to them - i have spent the day trying to stay at BT
[06:44:53 PM] me: but failed
[06:46:16 PM] them: I am sorry to hear that Paul. The network premium package is not as popular as it once was due to the cost and newer services like Infinity being cheaper.
[06:46:27 PM] them: Is there anything else I can assist you with today?
[06:46:44 PM] me: no. all done thanks.
