OK,
At the risk of severely testing everyone's patience, I've got a new problem.
I have successfully uploaded Wordpress. I ran the installer script. I can see the dashboard and admin panel. However, when I click to 'view site', it simply brings up a new window with the URL: www.marktobin.co.uk that shows the BT holding page ("This Domain Has Been Registered with BT").
I would have expected to see my blog, but I don't.
I honestly don't know whether the problem is mine, BT's or Wordpress'. I'm suspecting it's mine, but I'd really appreciate some pointers. I've also posted on the Wordpress forum, but thought I should do so here on the off chance that it's something simple I can sort out within BT's Website Manager.
Many thanks (again!)
Mark

Hi Dave,
I'll be asking you to move in before long... you've been invaluable. You could be my live-in tech support...
I haven't deleted any of the Wordpress files, because there's nothing in the documentation to suggest I do this.
I've heard from various sources that my problem may be related to the fact that there is an index.php file that I may need to delete or rename.
HANG ON! LIVE UPDATE! BREAKING NEWS!
It's all up and running.
I literally haven't touched anything, deleted anything, fiddled with anything. Literally. Not. A. Thing.
It's now working. It wasn't last night.
Now tell me that the world of computers isn't an entirely illogical place filled with weird things and gremlins. Hey? Explain what's just happened?
Dave: you're probably not off the hook entirely! I will undoubtedly be back here with a problem relating to my printer. Or questions about how to turn my computer off and back on again.
Until that time: thanks!
I think with Wordpress you maybe need to delete the installation script or folder after you have installed. Have you done this?

hi Mark,
This issue was caused by the BT page index file (index.phtml).
Your sites index page is named index.php.
Normally when uploading a site the index page is named index.html or index.htm which overrides index.phtml whereas index.php does not override index.phtml.
To solve this the BT page was renamed to index.old.

A-ha! So you're the magic man behind the scenes!
Well, thanks... it's now doing what I want it to. Very helpful.
God, you guys must hate newbies like me cluttering up these pages and wasting your time...
