Hello,
Could someone advise me whether i'm able to upgrade from a residential Infinity connection to an Infinity Business connection? The reason I want to move is because I require some static IP addresses.
Would I need to terminate the existing residential connection and place an order for the business package or is it simply a case of calling BT and the migration can be done without requiring an engineer visit?
Also, would a new 24 month contract start at the date of migration or would this be reduced to 12 months since i've been on Infinity residential for the past year.
Thank you.
James

The Home Hub might work - depending on whether it can handle the Static IP ...
An engineer visit is NOT required. The modem is identical and it may need a power cycle reboot to get teh new IP and login but that will be all.
Setting up the 2701 Business hub is easy, power up, connect to modem, connect PC and input UID and pwd and off you go.
Have you spoken with Business Sales?
In the past it has always been possible to migrate from Res to Business and it may well be the same now.
Your Res contract would be terminated and provided the new business contract extends past the original termination date then no penalty.
However, the new contract would be for the full term and not reduced - so a £30/month 24 month would be for 24 month from the date of the changeover. You could get a 12 month contract but that is £45/month. On top of that there is £5/month for the static IP or if you do not want a new hub you can get the static IP free instead.

Thanks for that, i'm getting conflicting information from BT customer services though.
They said that I will require a new BT Business Hub as my existing Home Hub won't work with the business service and that an engineer visit would be required to have all this set up.
Is this correct?
