Moving files from ftp index to public folder

Hi there,

I'm trying to upload a webpage to my domain and I've got stuck.

I've managed to get the necessary files into the ftp index but now I think I need to get them into the public folder before it can be viewed on my web address.

Am I right that this is how the files will become my web page and if so how do I move them into the public folder?

Yeh you will need to move them into the public folder. What did you use to get them uploaded?

People seem to recommend FileZilla as it gives you a visual interface.

Thank you very much for replying.

I did use filezilla and I have now managed to work out how to get them into the public folder. The latest problem is that is they can't be viewed on my webpage.

Do you know how I can remedy this?

Do I need to delete the old files that I no longer need that are still in the public folder and how do I do this as it is not as simple as just right click delete?

Depends what yer trying to do...if you have a complete website with a new index page then you would need to delete the old one but if it is just a page and it's in yer public folder then you should be able to see it...it might be an idea to remove the old ones if they are causing problems...but it isn't strictly necessary. I'm not sure I understand - are you trying to link the new pages from your old website start page?

I believe in FileZilla you can right click on the files and select delete or just highlight them and press the delete key on yer keyboard - you'll be asked to confirm you want to delete the file...
