Multiple fixed IP addresses

After reading a number of the entries on this page, it seems I am not the only one hanging on a phone waiting for an answer being repeatedly told that the business is very busy at the moment, however its the same message on each occasion when I ring whenever I ring. I am really glad that I am not busy and can afford to spend time hanging on the phone indeterminably. Probably as a manager its because I place the correct resources in the correct place at the correct time to meet demand which one could reasonably expect. Of course BT haven't the ability to identify the number of ring offs and the duration which callers are waiting,  for dare I say it - 'service'.

I nevertheless wait patiently whistling in a way so as to not upset my co workers albeit they left some 22 minutes ago, how time passes when you are having fun especially now in my own time, but as they say you cannot do enough for a good firm.

Right here we go,  you may guess from above that I tend to make contingencies and ensure preparedness, and this follows.

I have a fixed IP address and use the invaluable services of the VOIP which would cause me immense problems if out of order for a period of time. Hence I want to be reassured that the intentions would not impact upon operability.

Question 1

If I seek to modify the single fixed IP address to a package of five fixed IPs, would this kill off my VOIP numbers. In essence, I am asking whether the VOIP numbers are attributed solely to the fixed IP or are they roaming.

Question 2

Does the 2wire standard business router, provided by BT,  support 5 IPs as sold in bundles of 5 by BT. This is a simple question about compatibility, one which you would think would be routine, however as an anorak I need to be reassured.

Thanks for you assistance, I look forward to the answer. Normally I would be more succinct however waiting around -Chairmen of the Board You've got me dangling on a string (phone line but hey who is looking) with time on my hands have keyboard will type! Bye

1) it will be fine if you have the voip set up in the 2700

2) yes it is supported and there is a guide to set them up somewhere on this forum.

Why oh why do I believe that BT will improve the thing which is an oxymoron....yes the term customer service. Where do I start. Eventually I managed to get in touch with a technical advisor.....a further oxymoron...and took the advice as being correct. Today I called to ask BT to change my fixed IP address for a package of five to increase the security, and despite assurances that the router would function in precisely the way described. So here I am with no e mails and functionality to continue working with the techies simply changing from one fixed IP to five. And it doesn't work. Well these happen, however I seek to engage with BT to validate some issues.

Back into the cycle of a phone call only to be told that they are very busy whoopee do I think, its a good job that I still have time to spare doing nothing, of course again I can work into the night, time to me is irrelevent, mind you I do suppose I may sort this before I die............possibly. So who is the customer who is paying for a service and who is supposed to provide a service for which it eagerly takes the money, but my experience fails consistently to provide.

I was offered the opportunity to provide my number and get a call back within the hour so I tookit. Fool, 90 minutes later and no sign of a call back. Now back in the queue.

I would seek to make a foirmal complaint but predictably I would be held in a queue to be told. "We are very busy at the moment" and on this occasion I can understand this, because the service is abysmal, and the BT title should remove the B because it is a disgrace and embarassment to annotate it as British. Perhaps the cardinal was correct when he spoke about Britain being a third world country not when he arrived at Heathrow, but when he made a telephone call with the grace and favour of BT.

Get a grip guys
