My Published Website doesn't seem to exist! HELP!!!

I have recently set up an account for the Web Hosting Starter pack to create and host my new website.

I used the EasySite Wizard and successfully created a webpage and published it.

I have since used the Site Promoter to get my site listed on search engines.

When I try and use www.swiftsec.co.uk which is my website address it doesn't exist anywhere?

Can anyone help and advise me of how BT make the site visible to the general public.  I am baffled as I have done everything I think I need to do for my website 😕

ps.  I am not sure if I have done it in the wrong section, I activate my free web page and then clicked on Manage swiftsec.co.uk and created the website there, but when I click on manage free web space there isn't a site created

Thanks 🙂

One problem I had is that when you activate the site, you have to give it an ftp password.

I did this then it kept saying awaiting activation, I then spoke to the ftp department via the bt customer service number and they looked into it and called back giving me a backdoor URL to manage the site properly.

All I know is that with newer activations they are having problems as they have recently changed servers and lost sites.

Looks like mines happened again.

Luckily I've been doing mine on Dreamweaver and uploading it via File manager in manage service.

maybe an idea to call the UK number in the morning as the 09 number costs a fortune!

SwiftSec it should be fine, this is an issue that is affecting everyone and not due to yours being a newly published site.

Hi Guys I manage and maintain (and pay for) 7 sites hosted by BT

OK, I know there servers are down at this time and by trying many sites hosted by BT it does look like anything hosted by BT has gone down

It would have been nice to have an email from BT (even automated) to say that the servers are fried as I pay around £50 per hour every hours 24/7 for Google Adwords advertisinig, luckily I have my own detection sotware which checks all site every minute of the day and reports back if there is a problem, this kicked in and I managed to stop the advertising

I am just wondering how many of the hundreds of thousands of BT hosted websites out there are still paying for Google Adwords Clickthrough only to be taken to a "Oooops, url not loading" page

Regards

Dave

I agree with Kieran!!  It's unreal the unreliability at the moment.

SwiftSec I'm just putting my website in my address bar or Google Chrome, Safari, Firefox and IE, all cannot to server.

I'd say it's b*ggered at the moment

zippy1980 can I be really cheeky at this point and ask you what magical piece of software it is that you have checking your sites?

Thanks Kieran and Zippy.  Does it take BT a couple of days so your site can be visible as it didn't work yesterday either when I published it.

Does anyone know the UK helpline number that doesn't charge 50p a minute so I can try and call them tomorrow.

Thanks 🙂

Hi SwiftSec, no it should be instant as soon as you press publish. Although if the site is new then you need to get indexed with google etc. But typing it into your browser will bring it up instantly (under normal circumstances ;p)
