My Static IP addresses are missing?!

mcdent

When I signed up recently for BT Business Infinity broadband I asked for a block of 8 fixed IP addresses, 5 usable.

I got an email confirming the order which showed my addresses, starting with 217.34.xxx.yyy

However when I check my IP address for outgoing connections with a "whats my ip address" service, or on

a speedtest site, it shows as being 81.139.xxx.yyy

Am I missing something?

Thanks

Mike

Only BT should confirm that.

Are you the admin of this network? There might be a router that NATs the connection. How does your network set up look like?

Hi,

Are you logged in with the right broadband username, as static IPs are picked up from this?

If you are then you should be able to allocate them to devices behind the router, but the connection itself will pick up a dynamic peer IP address.

No.  I don't quite get it either, but that's the way it is.

Cheers.

I found another post that talks about you having to configure the addresses manually in the router if you are using

a block of 8 statics.

I guess I need to do some more reading!

We have exactly the same issue. We tried to install a new router (connected to the openreach modem). And are getting assigned a dynamic IP whereas we should be static. Even tried cloning the MAC of the older router in case it had been tied to that. No luck.

Were you able to resolve it?

I have since found details here

http://btbusiness.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/10020/c/426,3674,3850

on how to configue the router for my fixed IP addreses. However it does not work.

When I go to assign one of these addresses to a host, and click SAVE, it just resort to an internal IP again?

What gives?

Hi,

I'd be interested to know about this, too.  Does it tie in to the sticky topic "Static IP" (http://business.forums.bt.com/t5/Broadband-and-internet/Static-ip/td-p/13366) i.e. is there a difference in the way the Hub gets configured depending on the number of static IPs you request?

I've just joined Infinity - I have the "Business Hub 3".
