Hi,
I have been trying to forward my BT Domain to a free hosting company and as far as I can tell the only options are URL forwarding and Frame forwarding. Now my understanding of the two are that URL will leave the free hosting URL in the address bar (I do not want this at all)! and Frame forwarding will keep only the BT domain in the URL bar, bad for bookmarking and SEO.
I consider myself an intermediate user, certainly of computers but have little experience of putting a site together.
I would like to know if hosting with BT is the only solution to having my domain appear correctly and show up in search engines or will a paid hosting provide me with the option to correctly point my domain so it shows up in the address bar without a frame?
Am I missing any settings with BT that will enable me to use the free hosting? At the end of the day I'm happy to pay to get more but would ultimately like to do this for free, having paid for the domain in the first place.
Thank you very much,
Andrew

http://www.dnsforms.co.uk/ this will probably redirect you to a BT contact page, choose the relevent form depending on wether its a .com or .co.uk domain you want tranfered to new nameservers and fill in the details.
Under ideal conditions the changeover should take between 24 and 72 hours to fully complete and email attempting to reach the site during this period may get lost for a while.
Though we are accustomed to computers doing things quickly the waiting time in this case is due to the gargantuan task involved making changes to all of the webs indexing nodes as you are basically updating the planets entire list of domains and corresponding server locations.
NB: changing the nameserver only redirects traffic ,
you still need to move the files for your site to the their new home along with any database it may use.
Once the nameserver transfer is complete the old web host may delete your old site to free up space
Is there anybody that can help me with the above questions?

Hi, thank you for your response.
As I understand it, this will not have any influence on the formwarding method, framed etc? I had a nightmare the last time I tried to get my site up and running with getting it to actually show up in Google, despite waiting a couple of months! I put this down to the frame forwarding from my research online.
Thank you once again.
