New Service Availability Widget

Some new services require checking local exchange connections by supplying your telephone number.  For example, to check the availability of the Broadband 200Mpbs upgrade option the telephone number to be used to supply the service is entered into a web form for checking.

If your telephone is stored in your profile a widget could signal that you can the new service being advertised, avoiding disappointment after doing a test and finding that the local exchange has not been upgraded yet.

Hi southway, This sounds like a really neat idea to me and is definitely worth us investigating. I'm not sure that we'll be able to get back to you very quickly on this one though, as such a piece of functionality would most likely require a tie-in with the Your account section of BT.com which does have quite long lead times. However we'll riase it with the developers and see what they say. Many thanks for your suggestion. James

Hi southway, just had this back from the developers:

"We're working on a new and improved service status system which will contain the telephone number codes affected by a service outage and an estimated resolve time. We hope to have this up within 2 months. A phase two we're looking into is a system where the customer can type in their phone number code for a check-up for outages and new services etc but we haven't got a date for deployment yet."
