Please BT Help, Im fed up with slow speeds all the time!

Hi BT,

My broadband business account has been with you for the past 4 years now and I havent really raised an issue with the speed I've always got around the 600kbps mark and never complained until now. My Bt modem ( 2wire 2700hgv) was down for about 4 weeks and would not sink at all, it tried to sink up but would not, we have had several engineers out to have a look at the problem eventually the 4th engineer got out there and fixed it which we were very happy for (at least it was back on) but my problem is now that Im suffering with very slow speeds, agreed the engineer told me to leave it for 10 days max to give it chance to stable but Every day my output power on the home hub page Broadband/settings/status is losing 0.1dbm which is decreasing my speed "Am I jumping the gun do you need to leave it longer for increase in speeds or have I left it long enough, 10 days?". At the moment it is around 14.3dbm, Im connecting at around 480kbps downstream and 448 upstream. I've tested the line on the bt tester page and it is saying a speed of 278kbps. Im not a happy bunny at all with these speeds you cannot even look at anything on you tube without it pausing every 2 seconds. Is there anything that can be done.

P.S.. Just to say we have tried everything my end and all the equipment is set up properly and is all working. Just thought I would tell you incase you say an engineer needs to come out to the property to look, 4 others have looked and the last engineer confirmed everything was in place and right in the house.

Thanks,

Stu. Reece

Hi reece71079,

Sorry to hear you are still having issues.

Apologies however I do not have ownership of the issue, you would need to speak to the technical team to assist you further with the issues you are having.

Thanks

Tracey

Thanks for getting back to me tracy,

Ive been out and bought a top of the range Belkin Plus Max wireless router also I have a Netgear Range Extender which they all work fine, infact the Belkin modem is very good and reliable, Im sorry I had to get rid of the BT Home Hub but it looks like for the better of things. Anyway back to my speed issue as far as my modem is concerened it is very reliable and does not cut off after a few days but I hate to say this i am still struggling with the speed issue I have left the modem on now and will not turn it off to see if the speed rises, but I am still stuck at 514kbps downstream and 448 upstream not very good loading the pages on the net, looking on you tube watching clips, downloading larger files, just cannot be done with these sorts of speeds and of course after a while it just becomes frustrating and using the internet becomes less and less down to practicly the fact it is not fast enough for any sort of decent time on the net. Is there anything else you can look at to increase my speeds.

Thanks,

Stu.

Hi reece71079,

Glad that you have managed to obtain a router which suits your needs better.

As I have advised you would need to speak with the technical team, who would be able to assist you with your slow speed, as they may need to book another fault with your broadband.

I hope this is of help

Thanks in advance

Tracey
