Hi,
I have been using a number of bt2wire routers for connecting cctv systems for remote viewing.
They are fairly easy to set up and I have had no problem viewing the cameras remotely via the software and a static ip address, I have about 15 sites with the same systems and routers but after a while can no longer view as the port becomes closed.
I have been setting up the port forwarding on port 80 & 3495 which stays open for a while but then seems to randomly close and I have to go back to site to reconfigure the router.
Any suggestions/resolutions to this problem??
Thanks
How many sites are being affected? Is the rule being removed from the device or is it a custom rule that's disappearing all together? Could be the routers going through initialisation again and settings itself back to initial state.
Several sites are being effected, a custom rule has been setup to forward port 3495, it seems to stay working for a few days/weeks then becomes closed.
The router does not lose the settings but the port becomes closed, do these routers lose any settings if power is removed/interrupted?
What would cause the router to reinitialise?
Andy
We need to determine what's actually happening at that point. Is the rule staying applied to the device but just not actioning anymore? When it stops responding, go to Settings> Firewall and ensure the rule is still in place against the device. if it is, go to www.ping.eu and go to Port Check, put your static IP in there and port 3495 and test it a few times (even if it says closed). As soon as you've done that, go to Settings> Logs> Firewall Log and scroll to the bottom, the latest entries go there... look for dport 3495 and see if it says Inbound Session Stopped or Packet Passed. We need to know if the rule is staying in place or being removed, and if staying if it's just not being dealt with.
You are not alone, I have a client that is on his 2nd 2Wire router from Bt that is now defaulting once again! I am continually having to return to his site to set up port forwarding every week! This is now costing me money and losing credibility with the customer! I know the router is defaulting as I have set up a user password but when I enter this after a default it requires the WEP password! If anyone from BT is reading this, help me before I bill you for lost time!
The Business Hub may be faulty, coxcctv, I'd strongly recommend that you Contact Us
I am having the same issue, I frequenty have to re apply the rules, they remani configured but just somehow become un assigned to the rtelevant destinations. Hers is a copy of the log entry:
