Hi,
This is my setup;
BT Homehub v3 on Infinity with a static IP
I have purchased an IP Camera (Storage Options) which works perfectly on my home network. Now I want to be able to access the images from outside my network.
The IP Camera is configured against Port 81, I have created a Port Forwarding rule for Port 81 and assigned to the IP Camera.
However when I check my Static IP and Port 81 to see if the port is open it says no.
(Check on likes of - http://videos.cctvcamerapros.com/check-open-port-forwarding-tool)
More so if assign the Port 81 to my laptop and check it says its open.
Am I doing something really stupid here?
If someone has done this before please can you provide some guidance, I'm planning on buying some more IP Camera's but won't until I get this issue resolved.
Thanks.
Hi
Looks like you are posting on the wrong forum! This is BT Business not residential
However
The open port checker relies on something responding on that port to check it is open so I would assume that the camera is not.
My CCTV servers are on port 9090 if I port scan with the CCTV server turned off it reports port closed if I scan when on it says open.
The fact that the scan reports open when your laptop responds suggests that the port forwarding in the Hub3 is set up correctly. The problem probably lies with the networking settings in the camera server.
I do have camera servers on the Hub3 & I have no issues (apart from the Hub3 being orrible)
