All the equipment at the office is connected to a UPS capable of running for over an hour whilst all devices are powered on. By devices, I mean workstations, servers, the router, etc.
Today we had a power outage which lasted for 10 seconds. The lights went off but the IT equipment kept running. The VDSL router (has a built-in modem) did not lose power, but the connection dropped and it took about 10 minutes to resync.
I spoke to Gemma at BT Infinity Support today and she said it's likely the Exchange lost power and the reason why it took 10 minutes to resync is because the equipment in the Exchange had to reboot.
I would have thought the Exchange would be protected by power outages like this one. Can anyone else confirm if this is the cause?
