I have installed a 2wire BT business wireless router. After many attempts, I can only get an IP address and connect to the internet when I have disabled encryption (i.e. an unsecured network). Using the factory default setting with the password supplied, I can log on to the router, but the connection sits indefinetely waiting for an IP address. I can connect also with the ethernet cable.
I have tried different variations of WPA and WPA2 encryption, different network names, passwords and ensuring things like the MAC address filter is turned off, to no avail.
I have elminated the computer from being the problem, having used two laptops, both of which connect to other wireless networks with WPA and WPA2 encryption.
Can anyone offer any suggestions as to what is wrong? Is there a setting I need to change or could the router be at fault?
Hi T_Russ,
It could be that the wireless signal the router is emitting is on the wrong frequency for the laptops for encryption to work. When you are in the wireless settings of the 2Wire router try changing the channel from auto to say 4,5,6,7,11, to see if this helps. If it does not if you contact the helpdesk on 0845 600 7020 or by going to Chat desk we can look at the issue further for you.
