I am looking for advice on;
My work colleague uses his BT Business ‘BT WIFI’ account when he is out and about, he finds the service very useful. He has a problem at one site his visits regularly. He can use the service at this location, but only by leaving his Laptop permanently powered on with Dual Wifi cards(one to connect to public bt wifi(fon), 2nd to broadcast his own wifi SSID), to allow his phone to use the secondary(2nd Wifi card) WIFI network while roaming through the building.
Is there a recommended Wifi Extender (preferably green energy wise) to extend the already available BT FON signal without leaving his laptop perched on a window ledge at the back of the house.
In a nutshell looking for a device(router,extender, repeater) to connect to existing 'BT WIFI' local hotspot and then extend it through the building(size of small 3 bed house)
I hope that explains it sufficiently.
BT staff cannot comment upon, support or endorse any third party hardware.
However I can say that 'Belkin' (and others) produce a range of WiFi extenders that should suit your needs. Available from all good IT suppliers such as Misco.co.uk or even at Argos on your local high street.
Alternatives...
On the laptop use an external USB WiFi card with a larger antenna OR
change your router to one that supports a larger external antenna.
