A quick way to determine if you have a Broadband module or a Broadband Plus module would be to view the part code.
This may be found on a label on the rear face of the module.
Broadband module: LR5982.31001.
Broadband Plus module: LR5983.31001.
It would be helpful if you are able to refer to the Broadband module manual, although this has some limitations. The manual may be easily obtained in pdf format.
The Broadband modules are preconfigured to operate with the BT Broadband Voice service. However, this service is not obligatory. The Broadband modules may be configured to operate via other ISP's broadband services and other VoIP services.
It is not necessary to subscribe to any VoIP service for the use of remote V-IP phones. However, it is necessary to have a static IP address for the Broadband module.
The procedure for configuration of the Broadband module and the V-IP phone has also been described in a recent message in these forums. However, the programming interface for these modules is difficult to work with. We have found that the screen options vary with the firmware version and the type of connection selected. An obvious difference between the two types of module is the number of available VoIP endpoints (Broadband module - 2, Broadband Plus module - 12). The list of endpoints may be viewed by selecting "Change VoIP endpoint types here" within the Setup > VoIP > screen.
