Repair times

I am posting this on behalf of my son in Handforth near Wilmslow. He has had no phone nor broadband for over a month now, despite repeated calls to BT call centre. Fault noticed on 3rd October 2014, reported on 6th October. Delay was due to them going away. Open-reach only allocated an Engineer on the 29th October. Latest fix date is 14th November. 6 weeks after fault occurred. Why should it take so long to effect the repair and why should it take over 3 weeks to allocate someone to look at it? Alternative costly arrangements have had to be put in place for child minding duties as work from home, previously 3 days a week, is no longer possible. Fault coincidentally occurred when hole dug in pavement next door to install fibre.

Isn't it amazing how a contractor has arrived this pm to re-excavate the hole in the pavement next door. What do they find? A severed cable and even the cable going into next door has a nick in it. Complete incompetence. Why didn't BT listen on the 6th October? Even today they were telling me the fault was in the overhead line between the Exchange and the distribution point. Left hand right hand. Why why why has it taken BT so long to put right a problem caused by their (in)competent contractor. The real problem is that you cannot talk to someone in authority. The call centre ops appear to care but have no control.
