We have three different computers running Outlook 2007 and since Friday each computer with their dedicated email addresses continually download ALL emails left on server. Yesterday I deleted 12000 duplicate emails. I have been in touch with Office 365 who advised no settings or updates have been released through them but suggested BT had done something to its settings as our host. We certainly have done nothing within the office to any of our Outlook account settings. The common denominators are Outlook 2007, Office 365 and BT. I have rules out the two former listed so over to you BT.
This has happened to our emails too, this week (Outlook 2007 / 2010, BT Business Lite on Office 365, BT Broadband). Thousands of emails arriving, most of which had previously been read and deleted. All Outlook delete settings checked as set to delete when removed from deleted items folder. We have changed nothing and this is occuring on five different PCs. Would love to hear some suggestions how to stop this happening, it's very frustrating!
Not a solution but I have to ask WHY?
Why have you still got 12000 emails on the server? Once they are downloaded you should be able to delete them from te server - there is an account setting in Outlook to do this. I personally leave them there for a short period but then automatically delete them.
Hi
This looks to be an issue with outlook 2007/2003 not playing well with our email program.
We are currently working on fixing this but the current fix is to close down outlook.
Then login to the webmail then delete everything in the webmail.
Then reopen outlook and send a test message - this should only be received once
Hope this helps

I didn't have 12000 messages on the server, I deleted 12000 as a result of those on the server continually being downloaded. A message to BT, thank you for finally acknowledging the problem on Wednesday evening, 5 days after the problem started. Outstanding service. The work arounds you gave on Friday were far less than helpful.
This is a way of removing the symptom and deleting the messages I wanted to be kept on the server. Far from acceptable. Something your end changed and it has wreaked havoc with your client's Outlook. It isn't acceptable to ignore this problem for several days on your "issues" page. We all use mobile phones and the only way to keep access to historic messages is to leave the message on the server. Your unhelpful suggestion has now removed access for me to look back on messages on my mobile
BevC,
instead of keeping all the messages downloaded in one place, Which in itself is a Orgaisational nightmare,
Have you considered using the premium option for mail it does cost money, but you can then "Sync" your Phone/PC/table to the one Mailbox meaning if you remove a mail from your phone, your PC will remove it when it next connects to the server,
Its a much easier way to Manage your mailbox, but also then you can use the calander Function which will also sync across your phone, table and PC,
obviously not helpful for this situation, just looking at your overal product use
thanks
