We are having a strange problem. Our office in Faversham cannot use our website - loading time for a single page might be 30 minutes! Today I found out that if I simply change the url to https instead of http everything loads perfectly. Also the site works perfectly from other locations... So a single location cannot use a single site! Our hosting company blames BT, BT blames hosting company. This has continued for a week and I have been trying to fix this, 14 hours a day... with no networking experience really.
On the router I found the following logs in the NAT section (public IP's partly hidden):
sess[8663]: bkt 94, flags: 0x000801a1, proto: 6, cnt: 42
l: 192.168.1.66:50908, f: 213.175.xxx.xxx:80, n: 31.52.xxx.xxx:50908
last used 34397, max_idle: 86400 alg: HTTP (alg_arg 0x41af5210)

TCP OUT: is: 3392802177, sent: 255, unack'd 0, mss 0, windows_scale 0
The same test with https:
sess[8746]: bkt 67, flags: 0x000801a1, proto: 6, cnt: 26
l: 192.168.1.66:50986, f: 213.175.xxx.xxx:443, n: 31.52.xxx.xxx:50986

TCP state CLOSED
TCP IN: is: 1377073334, sent: 26754, unack'd 0, mss 0, windows_scale 0
TCP OUT: is: 3294818330, sent: 847, unack'd 0, mss 0, windows_scale 0
So a massive amount of unack'd inbound traffic! Also I am curious if "HTTP (alg_arg 0x41af5210)" means something..
We are trying to get hold of support but will try to ask for help here too... 🙂
Our router model is 2701HGV-C
I will really appreciate any help!
Hi Usealot
Sorry about the confusion i know what its like to be stuck between 2 companys arguing with each other.
Thats sounds like it could be MTU
All you need to do to fix that is go into the router, (192.168.1.254 in the address bar)
then go to settings > broadband > link configuration
then scroll to the bottom of the page and change the MTU to 1458
click save
If you are asked for a password click i forgot password just the once; if you have set a password you will see a hint.
If you have not set a passsword that will be the 12 digit serial number (SN number) on the back of the hub.
Type just the numbers not the letters.
Let me know if that works for you
Thanks
