I see that once again somebody at BT has imposed a crude server side block on my access to rapidshare without any consideration about the many hundreds of websites hosted there and, had I not a means to circumvent this block, crippling my business as well. They say, quite rightly, that every wedge has an edge, rapidshare today, your I.P. tomorrow.
I assume that we are still able to access sites such as 4shared, hosting arguably the finest collections of downloadable viruses, trojans and worms in the eastern hemisphere, together with as many hardcore porno sites as we wish. BT has absolutely no right to take my money and then decide where I log onto. I do not, nor have ever, used peer to peer or torrent services. BT has no right to censor the internet. If BT wishes to set itself up as the guardian of the web then let it say so in its terms of service. I for one will not pay for a crippled service.
If you are also affected by this block, simply change the http prefix to https. Lastly, unlike pirate and dubious file sharing sites, I would point out that there is absolutely no free public access to Rapidshare, no direct file listings available to the public and absolutely no justification for BT to block my access to my legimate files.
I look forward to receiving from BT my amended terms of contract stating that site blocking and/or censorship is part of that contract, together with the right to cancel my contract because these are not the terms on which I took the original contract.
What BT told you when you first contacted them? Did they give any resolution or whatsoever?
