Can you post the URL so we can have a look and can maybe advise what may be wrong.

I sympathise..

I've been trying to get a website to work for ages. A friend's host "disappeared" leaving him high and dry. I had an old copy of some of his pages he wanted me to tidy up.. It's pretty awful but it would do..

The problems started when we chose BT and took the Lite" option...  The sitebuilder is dire. If you FTP to the site you can't see the file created by Sitebuilder.. If you substitute a default page the original is still shown (and yes, I do know about cache!!). Was hell's own job to delete this page..

FTP pages and you get "forbidden".. Load the FrontPage extensions and the client says they're not there... It's pobably a simple case of permissions but .......

Emailed support twice - no response.. "Live chat" is a general BT person , I give up....

I'm looking for a refund (If I can find someone who'll listen without me haviong make a long call at my own expense) & move to one of the smaller companies where hopeully things will work..

Hope you have more luck than me....

Oh I don't like the sound of what your  saying Adrian it worries me immensely . When I tried to call BT all I got told was they host my site and have nothing to do with it showing up anywhere I thought if I went with them it was also added to Google, Yahoo and the other search engines only to get told it was my problem and I have to contact everyone individually so I am still in the dark as to whether I even have a website that is going to show in the search engines I have managed to get a local ad with one of the free indexes now and it comes up with them but that's it I feel now like I have paid a fortune advertising in bridal magazines just for the crack of it but will give it a few months and see where if anywhere this takes me .

Unless someone can give me some other advice on how to get it to show up

Thanks

Hi

I am sorry to read that you are both experiencing issues with your domains and webhosting.

Debbie -

If you look through the following help and support files you might get some more information about optimizing your site on search engines, Registering your website with search engines and also How can I improve my search engine ranking position?

There is also information in some older posts on the forum,

Can you create SEO Friendly urls in e-pages ?

Do zone configuration settings affect the operation of search engines?

search engines

Why is my site not recognised by search engines

How can i make my website searchable on search engines?

Website not being picked up by any search engines

I hope these help you.

Adrian -

If you can private mail me the webhosting account details, what is happening, what you are trying to do i can ask someone from webhosting to look into the account for you.

Kind Regards

Fiona
