Sitemaps

Hi, can anyone help me with making sitemaps?  I've made my new website, and verified it with Google, but still not searchable, so thought I'd try submitting a Sitemap, but don't know how!

I found that if I go to the BT Website Centre, then Website Management, Site Checker, then click on my site, it comes up with Site Map generated by Linbot 1.0. Is this a sitemap I can submit to Google?  If so, how??!  Or do I have to make another one somehow?

Thanks for any help - I'm new to all this and it's not easy!!!

Crys.

Hi Crys,

Please be advised that Google map needs to be generated by Google site using the link which appears when you select this option in the site builder.
In order for us to investigate your request in more detailed way please provide us with the full domain name hosted with us.

Thanks

Hi Tracey,

Thanks for your help.  My site is www.naturalstars.co.uk. I still can't get it on the google search, despite submitting it and getting it verified a couple of weeks ago now.  So I wondered if the sitemap would help, but I don't get how to do it....!

Thanks - any help much appreciated!

Hi Tracey,

Thanks for your reply.  I'm probably being really thick here, but when I go to the Editor none of the options say Add Site Map, so I'm still not sure how to do this.  Is there anything else I should click on to get to it, or is there something missing on my links....!!???

Thanks,

Crys.

I too have the same problem. my site is registered with google but I need to add a site map. I found a website to make me one and I've saved that file to my hard drive. But the $1,000,000 question is how to link up the two. there doesn't seem to be a way of adding a sitemap with your direction above.

any help would be appreciated

cheers

If you do site:http://www.yourdomain.co.uk/ within the google search box you will find how many indexes google has done.

http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=site%3Ahttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.naturalstars.co.uk%2F&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=...:en-GB:official&client=firefox-a

I fyou have a small site then just use http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/ to generate a sitemap and place the xml sitemap into your web root then submit the url via google webmaster tools

Hi there,

If you have a google account, you can also do this using their tools.  The URL for it is:

www.google.com/webmasters/tools/

Before you begin, make sure you have the following sites added and verified in your Webmaster Tools account:

  • the site on which the Sitemap is located
  • the site(s) whose URLs are referenced in the Sitemap
  1. Upload your Sitemap to your site.
  2. On the Webmaster Tools home page, click the site you want.
  3. Under Site configuration, click Sitemaps.
  4. In the text box, complete the path to your Sitemap (for example, if your Sitemap is at http://www.example.com/sitemap.xml, type sitemap.xml).
  5. Click Submit Sitemap.
I hope this is useful.  🙂

cheers.

I used "add a network location" on my C drive to upload the site map and then the password etc fo the site.

new question.. Google has come back now with my site crawled and absolutely none of my key word are being seen. I've gone into the back of house option on Easy Site wizard pro and updated all my page & key word descriptions and using an app called "Traffic Travis" I've had a B and C+ ratings for my word usage. However, Google have only come back with the file names of the pictures I have used on the site & in the picture photo album. any ideas???

cheers
