Static IP and LAN resources

Hi can someone help me, I have 5 static ip addresses of which I have assigned 1 to my home/work computer successfully.

But I use various resources on my LAN mainly a NAS/media server which I use for backing up files and sharing of files with other devices. However as this and other devices are on the LAN (192.168.1.xxx) my computer with the static ip address is obviously on a different ip range. What can I do to make my computer continue to use the NAS/Media server and see the other devices in network.

Using Windows 7 Ultimate OS

Hi,

If you are using a BT Hub you don't need to do anything - the PC with the public IP is still on the same LAN as the rest of your devices, just with a different address range. You can still access the NAS box using it's private IP address.

Thanks for response, but the problem is that my computer cannot see the Netgear Stora NAS drive as a networked device. It is the BT Hub 3 as you state and yes I can ping the other devices on the LAN as well as FTP to the NAS but I need the computer to be able see the network device to be able to use backup across the network and media streaming.

I seem to remember a long time ago the LMHosts file could be use to force network devices to appear in the windows network, the only problem is I read about but never used it. Would this work?
