I'm wanting to transfer my domain out of BT to another provider, yet keep the web hosting for a period of time. If I transfer the domain out, does the website itself get deleted, or can I point the www A record in my new provider back at the BT server and everything continue as normal?
Obviously, I'm not closing the account with BT at present.
TIA.
Solved! Go to Solution.
it won't get deleted unless you specifically cancel the web hosting.
You should be able to use the new provider's control panel to set the www A record to 209.235.144.9 and it will carry on working as before.

Thanks for the quick response!
I've been looking through the Smart Hosting info, and it says I need to apply for Smart Hosting, however, given that it's currently hosted at BT, is this step superfluous?
There will be no need to do this as the hosting is already set up, and this only applies to new hosting packages.
The web server really won't care who hosts the domain, as long as it points towards it.
Thanks again!
