Website counter

Hope someone can help here

At the moment I have a genealogy website on BTInternet free webspace with a hit counter. The BTInternet free webspace is closing in the near future and I decided to move to paid for web hosting with BT. I've migrated eveything across after a few tries ( Why is the so called user-guide so useless!!) but have a problem with the hit counter.

I installed the hit counter supplied and cut and pasted the link into my index file as it shows (I actually pasted in to replace the existing hit counter link)  but lo and behold no hit counter!!

Anyone got this 'flycounter' working and can give me a bit of guidance

As a PS I've checked that the counter is working by checking the count.txt file and it is incrementing when I visit the index page so it is a display problem, do I have to set something in the script to get it to display or is it something else

I'll answer this one myself

I went back to the page that appears when you install the counter

It says.....

The script has been installed on your site with the following values

Fly Counter Visible ="" is the important one!!

You need to edit flycounter.pl and change the variable $dot from "1" to "X"

and then the counter becomes visible, all I need now is a decent set of replacement digits

I can't imagine why BT would think that anyone would want to install an invisible counter!!

I placed a counter on my client's website but it contains an external hyperlink as well. Please guide how can i remove it or let me know some place to find a counter without a hyperlink. Thanks
