Why does it take 28 days to cancel BT Broadband ?

It has taken 3 - 4 unsuccessful attempts (being held on hold for more than 15 mins each time) until I have finally managed to speak with someone today about cancelling a business line which is not required anymore.  It's been a frustrating conversation because every single information the operator gave me was wrong and was retracted when challenged (call ref. COT 307238).

What I would like to clarify please is why it takes 28 days to disconnect the broadband?  This is in effect a one month charge, when there shouldn't be any when out of contract.

Thank you

Hi

I am sorry that you have had problems closing your BT Services. The BT Business Broadband Terms of Service clarify that to close the service or cancel the contract we require 28 days notice (please see section 6.2)

Kind Regards
