Please can someone help me and my clients before I pull all my hair out.
I provide IT Support to SMBs. Some of them have BT email accounts that have been associated with their domain names.
This is not something my customers was aware of. They now want to purchase Office 365 from me - someone who can really help them make the most of the package.
The problem is that when I try to verify that my client actually owns their domain name. The Office 365 control panel quickly informs me that the domain name is already assocociated with another Offfice 365 account - the BT email account which uses Office 365 as a platform.
Getting anyone in BT to disassociate the domain from BTs Office 365 is the single worst processs I have ever come across.
I know it can be done because I recently spent nearly 10 hours on the phone/chat/email to BT to get them to do this.
Finally I was put in touch with 'james.hain@bt.com' who was the only person who understood the simple thing I was asking for and quickly sorted it out.
Today I have another client who wants the same. I spent 2 hours on a chat to "Alan" in support who deleted all the email accounts and said there was nothing more to do but when i check the domain it is still shown as being associated to BTs Office 365.
CAN SOMEONE IN BT PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS !!!!!!!!!!! ARE BT DELIBERATLY MAKING THE PROCESS IMPOSSIBLE TO PREVENT CUSTOMERS FROM LEAVING THEM??????

Hi eddiek156,
If a domain has had email addresses created on the BT servers this creates them in the BT tennant on Office 365, to get the domain name removed from the BT tennant, all the domain name email addresses need to be deleted/de-activated on the BT side, this automatically removes the domain from BT's Office 365 to then allow you add the domain to another Office 365 provider.
If you send me a private message with the domain and with contact details I can get someone to look at the domain to make sure all the mailboxes have been de-activated and that the domain has been removed from the BT side for you.
