domain name redirect

Hi.  I have uploaded the website i had built, put it in the public folder.

i tried to redirect the domain name to find the appropriate (start)page however i get a www error.

i looked at the advance domain names page and that looks very scary and confusing.

basically i have a domain www.myname.co.uk   i need that to find my web page www.myname.co.uk?index.html and there seems to be no easy way to do that. 

can you please help.
