When i try to open up my btconnect account on my new laptop i can log in but then the page that opens had a white bat across the centre saying 'loading' no matter how long i leave it it doesnt load. the side and top bar (where your click to show inbox or sent messages ect) shows but do nothing when i click on them

This is known issue with Internet Explorer 9 and BT Business webmail.
What you need to is turn on Compatibility View for our website, or use another browser.
