hide the main page of the router settings on business hub 3.0

When a user browses the gateway IP address of the business hub 3.0 they can see quite a lot of information like Broadband username, and a list of the devices connected to the network.

I would rather not have this information exposed, is there a way to hide the default page or customise it in some way.

Hi,

Simple answer is no.  Only thing i can think of is to set an admin password, but I don't know which page shows first if you have one set up.

There is an admin password on the router, so what i included as an image is the first page that appears when users see the gateway page.

What users usually do here is to change the password first. But make sure users don't have physicall access to the router since they can just reset it to factory defaults.

Bad advice AGAIN.

Hi,

Yes I tested this later on to see.  I must admit that I can't think of anything else to help with that one.

It is a problem with a lot of routers ... whether BT supplied or totally different brands.

Fortunately,  it is not possible to make changes without the password - unless the owner has changed it to something very simple or blank!

Then remember:  if they have logged on wirelessly, you must have given them the encryption key or for wired, shown where the Ethernet port is.   So, there must be some basic element of trust.

Stupid question, can the BH3 get set up to a safe connection via HTTPS instead of HTTP? This could appear as a hurdle already.

I have not seen one live by now and knowing about its hardware it does not really appeal to me either.

Or if it is just desktops to block the name resolution for the hub as not many users tend to use IPs.

Again I would roll the ball into BT Businesses half. Yes they only buy the hardware but the firmware gets heavily tailored to BTs needs. So what is stopping you from treading that as a suggestion? I am pretty sure there would be more admins pleased to get only a basic status page for the user. Even better one where the admin could leave details whom to contact in case of a problem.

Or even better if the router supports emailing logs, then there could be a small message window to send for help to the admin. Please if you would implement that do not forget anti spam measurements like for example staggered times. (1. emails straight out, 2. after one minute, 3. after 5 minutes for example)
