Well I think I've done it now. I sussed out the FTP thingy - fingers crossed - and checked and re-checked my pages, and pressed 'publish'. So I'm out there now, in the ether.
Hopefully, it will be ok. I'm now going to look into the advertising on Google and Yahoo thingy - more headaches methinks.
PayPal - I opted for the email version, where you email your clients an invoice with the cost etc, and they click a link and go straight to PayPal. Hope it works ok. It seemed more straightforward than the payment button on the site which I know some of you have had problems with.
Thanks for all your help so far. But I have a sneaky feeling I'll be logging in here often either to ask for help with something or to check on hints/tips when things need sorting etc.

I just typed in my URL on Yahoo and all I found was my threads from this forum 
Don't know what I expected, well I do actually, I expected at least to find my site somewhere. At least in Yahoo seeing as I'm a BT customer.
Maybe it will take a while, or maybe I need to pay up first?
Anyway, I only launched 5 mins ago, so maybe I'm being too keen.
Any tips anyone? (I knew I'd be back on here).
