I'm only asking this here now because i don't want to ring tomorrow and speak to someone in england only to be transfered to northern ireland only to talk to someone in sales then be transfered to internet and broadband then to i.t to someone who actually knows what i'm talking about. I need ioncube loaders installed on my domain server. These loaders are ioncube_loader_lin_5.2.so this is the linux 5.2 loader for x86. If anyone can point me in the right (number to ring) direction please enlighten me? I'm using a repair log whichs uses databases and also needs his loader to work.

I am sorry that you seem to have been shunted around the helpdesk, phonejackemi. IonCube is not supported in advanced web hosting, I'm afraid.

Hi, John
Thanks for the reply. So which web hosting should i have for this to be supported? I rung today and was told no it could not be changed? Yes its shared as well which i thought it was a dedicated hosting package. so i'm now searching about for a host who does. Plus i'm waiting on a refund for the software i bought. And speaking to them they dont see what the problem is? Thanks again for the reply if you can add anything further to help understand why or if it needs to be an advance advanced hosting package? Please let me know.
Regards

None of our hosting packages will support IonCube, I'm afraid. I am sorry if you were in anyway mis-led, did you mention that you wished to use this when ordering?

Hi, John
When i ordered the package i was informed via the BT site that it was a dedicated web hosting package this has been changed since then with a newer look. It probaly should of said a web hosting package with dedicated support from bt? however this is not the point. I'm not out to get something thats not offered. And even though the software i use needs it. BT's offer of web space for businesses should be ready to be more versatile for the software developer. I see this poping up with a few others needing these loaders maybe this is something BT needs to look at. I purchased the web hosting package first then the software. If BT's server space is available to purchase then there needs to be a more detailed list as to what your buying or whats not supported. When i purchase a house yes i may need planning permission. But i can do pretty much what i want. I hope you can see my side of the story. This is what i want to get across. Thanks for your time and sorry for the late reply.
Kind Regards

Firstly, I am sorry that our web hosting doesn't seem to fit your requirements. You may wish to Contact Us with a view to cancelling your web hosting.
We, as well as many other web hosting providers, reserve the right to restrict the use of any server - sided tools or scripting. The reasons for this should be fairly obvious, on a platform designed to host multiple users. I believe that there are hosting companies who will rent you your own server, physical or virtual.
We already provide industry standard SQL tools for database management. The product you reference is, I believe a tool for protecting your PHP code and depends on server-side scripting. If that is your intent, there are several methods for doing this, all equally effective (or ineffective, such "protection" is generally easy to circumvent).
Your House purchasing analogy doesn't really stand up in this context, fonejackerni. A better analogy may be renting industrial space within a multi-occupancy factory unit, there will be restrictions based on health and safety concerns (for example) for the other occupiers of the unit. Such restrictions are there to protect all "tenants" of the unit.
One solution you may wish to consider is to host your own web server or rent a web server from a hosting company which provides such services.

Ive just spent two hours trying to find out why this service is not available and still dont have an answer. Ioncube loaders are normally installed by default on shared hosting servers and its a 10 second job to activate them so come on BT whats the problem ?? The previous answer suggested finding another hosting company but really - do you have that much business that you turn clients away for a 10 second job by IT Admin.
I have a client with BT whom i have just redone their website and the cms uses ioncube - as its just a standard piece of software I had no reason to believe that it would not be available especially as most other hosting companies support it. I am still waiting for BT to come back to me to see if they will take the time to activate it but otherwise we will be shipping out and a lot of business will be lost to BT as I cannot put any clients there.
I also tried to email a support query but without an account number there is no way to email the correct department!
